Second Life residents’ top ten places

Something odd is starting to happen when car manufacturers start publishing guides to virtual worlds.

Car-maker Vauxhall has published the online Corsa Guide to Getting a (Second) Life. It claims to be the first handbook for leisure voted for by the residents themselves. For a four-week period, SL residents voted for their favourite locations within the virtual community at Corsa voting kiosks throughout Second Life. In total, over 2,000 votes were received, a healthy figure.

So here’s the top ten they came up with (with direct links into Second Life):

1. Luskwood (a community where residents dress up as animals)

2. Blarney Stone (a recreation of a Dublin drinking den)

3. Bora Bora Wavelabs (a hot spot for surfing)

4. Acropolis Gardens (architecture and nature)

5. The Lost Gardens of Apollo (a place to escape to nature )

6. Terminus (a virtual ecosystem)

7. Fibber’s Mcgees (another Irish pub)

8. VR Rooms (walk into stunning 720 degree photography)

9. Bubblegum Music Factory (dance club)

10. Wizard’s Alley (live out your Harry Potter fantasies)
